Kelly O’Neill Young is passionate about helping people be better informed and have a greater voice in their healthcare. In 2009, she created RAwarrior.com, a comprehensive website about RA and hub of one of the largest most vibrant patient communities online. About 54,000 people interact with RA Warrior through its busy Facebook Page. Kelly has written about 1000 articles about RA and healtcare, published on RA Warrior and in medical journals and health magazines. She is a dynamic speaker who has presented to several audience types from medical meetings to company retreats. She has consulted for industry, served as an advisor to the Mayo Clinic Center for Social Media and participated as a patient advocate with various agencies including FDA, PCORI, and HHS.
Kelly is the founder of the Rheumatoid Patient Foundation (RPF), a non-profit organization working to improve the lives of people living with rheumatoid disease, engaging in research, education, and advocacy. RPF has increased awareness about the disease, establishing February 2 as Rheumatoid Awareness Day. She is the author of an upcoming book on the academic evidence for the historical term “rheumatoid disease.” She is a homeschooling mother of five whose children earned academic scholarships and other awards.
